An Identity and font system inspired by Korean pianist Yiruma.

Yiruma is a single-weight display typeface. It is bold, fun and fresh. It’s eye-catching with playful curves. It is a new classical-inspired with a contemporary twist that strikes a balance between formal and playful.

Inspired by the idea of “World music” being a combination of western music and non-western music. Yiruma is a hybrid-inspired type choice by Korean letterforms and western typeface Raleway. Characteristics of the Yiruma typeface have square-like structures to create a stacked look similar to Korean letterforms. Raleway is a humanist sans-serif type choice with elegance, and a geometric-inspired stylistic alternative. This neutral solid stroke allows a good start in type structure. Keeping in mind the artists’ music style of “light melodic harmonies”, the type uses round curves over sharpened edges to allow a friendlier feeling.

Strokes are determined by Korean letterforms.
